Plumbing Maintenance Tips

Plumbing Maintenance Tips: The preventive factor is perhaps the appropriate way to avoid a harmful event that, due to a lack of duty of care, ends up causing many more setbacks than would have really had to be endured, given that they are totally avoidable aspects.

And plumbing is no exception to this rule, since within this aspect there are a number of preventive actions that can be carried out, in order not to have to face a series of unfortunate events, and it could be said that the circumstances are not so serious when it comes to talking about a broken pipe inside a building, but nothing could be further from the truth, so below, we want to share one of the emergency calls that we attended, where a water pipe It broke causing serious damage, which, if it had been changed preventively, would not have created so many risks in its path.

Every six months your water heater must receive maintenance, which refers to draining the water completely and cleaning it in order to eliminate the sediments that end up crowding and therefore deteriorating and clogging the heater.

A little less than a year ago we received an emergency call reporting damage to a broken pipe inside a residential building with more than ten floors, where they asked us not to delay since, on the top floors of the building, it had broken. one of the main water pipes, causing a cascade effect towards the floors that occurred to the damage, what was really delicate was the series of unfortunate events that occurred after the event.

Because the concierge did not know where the building’s water was being cut off from (because he had been in that position for a few days), it was not possible to cut off the flow of water, which in a few minutes began to filter wide and uncontrolled not only because of the emergency stairs, but also because of the two elevator blocks serving the building, thus putting at risk the lives of the people who were inside at the time of what happened, since in this way the entire electrical system of the elevators failed due to coming into contact with a water current, since the water seeped through their ceilings.

In addition to this, all the apartments located below the harmful event were affected by the large amount of water that was filtered through the emergency exit stairs, and as if this were not enough, an elderly owner of one of the apartments, urgently needed to use the elevator, since he had just been discharged, and he had no other way to access his department to be able to rest and enjoy all the care that a postoperative period requires.

Every appliance that is directly connected to the water line must be checked and the condition of the hoses and connections verified.

The reality of all this is that this series of unfortunate events could have been prevented if that pipe had been replaced at the time and at the end of its useful life, of course knowing the exact place where the keys are located step or key of cut of a property is extremely necessary and can make the difference in a plumbing emergency.
